Look beyond people's assumptions

Morning you guys! Today I wanna share mostly a story with you.  But first I wanna ask you something, do you remember when was the first time you ever did something for yourself? I'm not talking about a day at the spa, unless you went because you were under a lot of stress (from having to raise 2 kids by yourself or something) and not just for the sake of posting it on Instagram.
I can't really put my finger on the first time I did something quite like it.  But what I do remember is this thing that happened to me when I was around 10 years old. I was being pushed to do something I didn't want to..  And guess what? I said no.
So perhaps my school didn't have that many bullies but we did have mean girls. There weren't even that many girls at my school in the first place, so it was hard for me to wrap my mind around the idea that we had to destroy each other.

Alright so I had this group of "friends" that even now I can't fully explain why they had something against me. There was this guy (a kid, obviously) that was really into me, to be completely honest I didn't even like boys at that time.  All I wanted to do all day was run around, eat a bunch of junk food, watch TV and go to sleep (those were the years).  So like any other boy he went ahead and asked my "friends" about me. Later, they tried to convince me that it would be a great idea for me to become his girlfriend so that after a couple of days I would break up with him and destroy his heart.  This isn't a joke, like these people really thought that would be fun. Anyways, I said no and it felt really empowering.  Obviously they tried to give me hell for the following years but that didn't matter to me because I never allowed them to have power over me.  I noticed that day, perhaps I didn't fully understand it at first, that I could decide whether or not what people thought about me mattered. And since it didn't matter then it couldn't affect me.
I  can't really say that I was bullied at school because that wasn't the case.  That would have implied that I actually cared and that I allowed others to make me feel bad.  Instead indifference has always been my best friend.  I'm sharing this story along with the outfit because I'm guessing this is what a Misfit looks like according to our society.  And if this is the label people wanna place next to my name then I'll wear it proudly.  Because there's no sense in wanting to be part of a group where they are out to destroy each other.  I'd rather watch the world by myself from the sidewalk than to join that party.
